About Arshad & His Family 

 

Arshad Awan is seeking to become your next Ward 1 Councillor in the Town of Ajax.

Arshad Awan immigrated to Canada with his wife, Shagufta Awan, in 1998 to seek a better life for his family.

Arshad and his wife have lived in Markham, Scarborough and Etobicoke, finally choosing the Town of Ajax as the ideal place to raise their family of 3 boys, all of whom were born in Canada

Arshad and the family are active members of the community, and have always supported and volunteered for local Conservative candidates. In 2019 Arshad was nominated as the Ajax Federal Candidate, ran in the Federal election and gained 13,237 votes his first time running.
 

Arshad has a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and a Diploma in Information Technology.

Arshad’s first job in Canada was helping to support the Department of National Defence, under contract with Royal LePage Relocation Services, helping officers who moved or relocated, to sell or to maintain their house.
 

Since 2006, Arshad has held the title of Business Manager/Accounting for CANDU. Supporting Clean Energy in Canada, and around the world.

In addition, Arshad is also a proud small business owner and is active in the Ajax business community, providing vital accounting bookkeeping services to small businesses.

Arshad is a strong believer in giving back to his country and community. He provides free Income Tax services to low-income families and senior citizens in need.

Arshad is also a well-known media personality, hosting a weekly community TV show called Saat Rang (which literally means Seven Colors). The focus of the show is to bring different communities together, to build bridges, and to foster a better understanding of the changing landscape of our communities.

Volunteer Work

Arshad is the President of Muslim Children's Fund of Canada - a non-profit organization.

He also serves as a Treasurer of the following non-profit organization: 

• Harbest Seeds of Hope Pinakbet International - an advocacy group for community gardening 

• Voice of Men 360 - deals with the mental health of boys & men 

• SuzyQJewels Women & Children Program - deals with abused women & children

Arshad is an active member of the Ajax Conservative EDA and is a member of the Board of Directors.
